Covering everything from culture and history, to shopping and dining, the aim is to develop a mobile app to allow international visitors to Kansai to get the most out of their experience here.
Currently, Japan welcomes about 13 million international tourists per year. By 2020 however, the government has set itself a target of 20 million visitors a year. Various projects and initiatives are underway across the country to pave the way for that to happen. Particularly in the Kansai region, with its wealth of tourist attractions and rich history, we can anticipate a steep rise in the number of in-bound visitors. But how do these guests navigate Kansai when they are here? What sources of information are they turning to for help? There is a wealth of travel information available, but no obvious go-to source for international visitors to receive correct and updated information.
To resolve the situation, we are holding a hackathon event to develop a travel app for the Kansai region, using data drawn from leading providers of useful travel information in the area.
The purpose of this event is to develop a mobile app to address the current lack of user-friendly, relevant information to orientate international visitors to Kansai. Background will be provided by tourism industry professionals and international students, and the participants will collaborate with international residents and students in Japan in this mobile application development event.
This event will be held predominantly in English and held over two days. There will be some prizes for the winner group.
現在、年間訪日外国人数は約1300万人といわれており、
国が掲げる2020年に「2000万人の訪日外国人」をめざした取り組みが
各地でさまざまに行われています。
なかでも関西は、ショッピングからグルメ、文化、歴史など、
多彩な観光資源が集積していて、
これからますます多くの外国人が訪れることが予想されます。
しかし、さまざまな観光情報が、さまざまなところから発信され、情報量が多すぎて、正しい・新しい情報が旅行者に届いていないという状況があります。
そこで、関西を訪れる外国人旅行者に快適に過ごしてもらうことをテーマとした
観光アプリケーションを開発するハッカソンを開催します！
訪日外国人旅行者の課題を解決するためのアプリ開発を目的としています。観光関係事業者や留学生から課題を発表していただいたり、関西在住の外国人や留学生と一緒に開発を行っていただきます。 そのため、進行などに関しては基本的に英語で行われます。優秀なチームには賞があります。
